Inez believes that everybody should help themselves, "You'd do better to watch your own interests," she tells Garcin" Inez is like a chapter out of Nietzsche. She holds people accountable for their actions threatening them with what Garcin calls an "agony of the mind." She blames only herself if things don't go her way.
