Night/ Chapters 8 and 9/ After his father's death, how does he change?

Eliezer drowns in sadness...... he gives up. It seems that without his father he has no reason to survive..... no one to live for. The two of them had a mutual purpose, and that was to see each other through the nightmare. In the end, Eliezer was alone and without purpose.
