For years Wiesel was torn by two opposing feelings: that he should "bear witness" to what happened in the death camps, and that any attempt to put his experiences into words would show disrespect for the dead. Which of these concerns do you think is more important? Why?

This is asking for your opinion rather than mine. I know Wiesel was a great proponent of bearing witness and speaking up against injustice rather than keeping quiet. He believed that the silence of the world enabled the holocaust.
