Describe the relationship between Eliezer and his father.

In the beginning of the novel, Eliezer and his father have virtually no relationship at all. Eliezer's father is a very busy, respected member of the community. Unfortunately, that leaves him with little time for his family.

Page 2, Eliezer notes that his father was "more concerned with others than with his own family."
