The night prior to Juliek’s death, Juliek is playing Beethoven .When Eliezer wakes Juliek is dead and his violin lies beside him crushed. The violin music was a shred of humanity inside this living hell. The music calmed many people in their last moments of desperation. The violin, and Juliek, symbolized the last vestiges of humanity finally destroyed forever.
