Night

At the beginning of this section, the SS refer to the prisoners as "flea-ridden dogs". Later in the passage , Eliezer thinks, " If one of us stopped for a second, a quick shot eliminated the filthy dog." Why does he continue the metaphor that SS create?

Elie continues the metaphor because the prisoners are seen as dogs and treated like dogs (animals).
