Mr. M’s death is an example of tragic irony. In context, he is killed by those he wished to help most. As an educator, Mr. M gave his life to his students... preparing them to forge new roles in their lives, and in the end make South Africa a better place to live through their accomplishments. His students, however, turn against him and throw back the very gift he wanted to give them.... and in the end.... they give him death.
