This is only a short answer space. My Ántonia is contrary to traditional gender roles, both for women and for men. This story is set around the turn of the century where men were supposed to be strong and women weak and submissive. In this story women are the strongest characters and men as its weakest. Women are the hardest workers on the land; they feed the kids; take care of the kids; take care of animals....
