Ántonia has finally found the balance in life she has been searching for. She is in a marriage that is based on respect and partnership rather than, like the Harling's, based on patriarchal domination. Ántonia and her husband play with their children and have a friendship that Jim admires. Jim longs for this type of life as he leaves.
