Hero is also humiliated by Claudio. In a fair world Hero should have told Claudio where to go. He showed no trust in her or fidelity. This, however, is an Elizabethan world and a Shakespearian comedy. Women have little to know power and things must end happily. It is a patriarchal world where punishments and rewards are doled out from a decidedly male viewpoint. So, as far as endings go, this ends in typical Shakespearian comedy form. In the context of the genre, I wouldn't change anything (who am I to alter a Shakespearean play!).
