In relation to why Don Pedro offered to win hero's love for claudio what does this suggest about claudio?

It shows Claudio to be rather a cowardly character. He certainly doesn't woo Hero himself. When he is faced with a totally unfounded rumour about his "love", he turns on Hero instead of supporting her.
