In this act, Beatrice will be tricked into loving Benedick by what she overhears in an orchard. This is not however just a trick. Hero and Margaret are merely playing on Beatrice's latent feelings of love for Benedick. Beatrice is no longer Benedick's enemy. She needs only an excuse to consider Benedick for marriage.
