What does Grampa say about the incident between RC and Hiram’s friend?

In Chapter Nine, Hiram seeks Grampa's about what happened at the river. Grampa tells him, however, not to worry about what happened.... that it's possible Emmett deserved to be mistreated as whites and African Americans shouldn't be friends. Grandpa's reaction gets Hiram to thinking that his father might be right after all.
