I think Shakespeare is playing to the imagination of the audience and culminating the tone of his play with a sense of lightness and wonder. In delivering this epilogue, Puck adds an unexpected element to the play and he invites the audience to consider that they might have "slumbered here". He adds a direct personal connection with the audience that leaves them happy: as if waking from a pleasant dream.
