A Midsummer Night's Dream

Speculate on the cultural context/effects of Bottom's experience with Titania in his "dream," which Montrose calls an experience of "fleeting intimacy with a powerful female who is at once lover, mother, and queen."

This is really only a short-answer space. There is certainly a mismatch between Titania (who represents female sexuality, power, and nurturing) and Bottom who is a male buffoon. The inconsistency here is really the point of the relationship that drives the comic narrative.
