A Midsummer Night's Dream

How do the two main locations in the play (Athens and the forest) relate to the play’s main themes

The story takes places in and around Athens under the rule of Theseus, but Shakespeare combines ingredients from various times and places in the story.

The setting of Athens sets the stage for the rules and regulations of family :-D. Ancient Athens had the law that a girl could be killed for not adhering to her father's choice of husband. Daddy's word was the law........... period.

The woods on the other hand, take us away from rules and order. They're magical, and they're the perfect place to stage the disappearance of young lovers.
