Lewis points out that the easy part is that God gives one the gift of accepting Jesus Christ. Anybody can accept Him: the gift is given freely. Acceptance of Christ, however, comes with responsibilities. The more one obeys the Christian conscience, the more their conscience will demand of them. This is not an easy thing to live up to but accepting God’s gift means a constant effort to live up to the gift.
