The Potia in Merchant of Venice is compared to another Portia, she was extremely beautiful, who was the daughter of Cato Uttisenses. Portia (daughter of Cato) had married Marcus Brutus who was the murderer of Julius Caesar. THe comparison is made to show how beautiful Bassanio's Portia is.

What evidence is there in the passage to show that Portia 's game had spread throughout the world?
