Greed is shown in numerous ways throughout this Act. We'll start with the suitors, each of the men is there to make an advantageous marriage..... hence, to marry for money. Then we have Shylock, the money lender..... money lender's don't give out their money out of the goodness of their hearts..... they do it because they want that money to earn them even more.

Bassanio is greedy because he too wishes to make an good match. He borrows money from Antonio knowing it's possible he may not be able to pay it back..... he gambles, but he uses someone else's money in the hopes of gaining his own ends.
