How does Franklin present himself in town when he goes to find his father?

Franklin is polite, stoic (for his age), strong, and dignified. He seems like an "old soul" even though he is only sixteen. Much of Franklin's maturity comes from the Old Man's parenting and Franklin's reverence for the natural world.
