In Maus 2 what significant comment does Artie make about his brother on page 15 and why is it significant?

Artie calls his brother "ghost brother". He wonders if he would have got along with him if he had lived. I think this is significant given the death of his mother and Artie's strained relationship with his dad. His brother would be his only significant family left.
