How are the different characters in Maus affected by guilt?

Sometimes characters drown as black,and also sometimes there are lots of striped item in the event's place.For example,after Richiev's born Anja was depressed,and the sofa that she was lying is striped.Also we can see in Artie's comic,he was wearing something striped.That can show and emphasise us in World War 2,Nazis were accusing Jews;and if we look at the whole book,their striped pyjamas show us the guilt on them.
