What chapter are you referring to?

Austen does say that If Sir Thomas knew about his daughters thoughts, especially Maria's, about his homecoming, he would be extremely dissapointed. It also mentions breifly that in one of his letters to the Park, that he was glad to be home and that he wanted to come back as soon as he could. Also, the fact that he wants to spend quiet time with his family after he gets back. Another uncommon sign is that he stops the play. THe play was having a detrimental affect on his children, so he stopped it and everyone was fine again. THis shows a Fathers care and love for his children, how much he was needed and wanted to come back.
