Macbeth

"I am in blood stepped so far, that should I wade no more returning were as tedious as go over".

ACT 3 SCENE 4

"I am in blood stepped so far, that should I wade no more returning were as tedious as go over".

What does this quote mean? What is Macbeth trying to tell?

Essentially, this statement means that Macbeth's actions have left him incapable of turning back or doing the right thing. He concedes that he already has so much blood on his hands that there's no going back.... it's like a domino effect.
