Macbeth

Act 1 comparison between Banquo and Macbeth's reactions to the witches

In Act 1 how does Banquo's reaction to the witches differ from Macbeth's? What do you think Macbeth's reaction suggests about his character?

Banquo notices that Macbeth is lost in thoughts about what the witches said, "Look how our partner's rapt." Banquo later warns Macbeth not to trust witches. They will tell him good things only to betray him in the end,

"The instruments of darkness tell us truths,. Win us with honest trifles, to betray 's. In deepest consequence."

Macbeth is however rapped in his own thoughts about how the witches' "predictions" might lead him to the crown. Macbeth thinks this can't be all bad news.
