The speaker
The first-person speaker of the poem is hesitant about approaching and receiving divine Love. Over the course of the poem, he is convinced to honor God's will and accept this love.

Love is a personification of Divine Love, and/or God. Love assures the speaker that he is worthy of love from his own creator.
