Why was Simon willing to go through the forest alone?

Simon's preference to be alone. The other boys can't believe that Simon would dare enter the forest alone, especially at night. Simon is a solitary character. He sees the forest at night as solitude and the boys as negative energy. He knows that whatever evil that exists on the island is within the boys and not in the forest.
