why did ralph trip? Why is this important

this is in chapter 1 but i can't find it can you please give me the page number

When Piggy mentions that there are other kids scattered around,

"Ralph shook his head and increased his speed. Then he tripped over a branch and came down with a crash." I think this could be interpreted as a bit of foreshadowing. Ralph will trip and stumble many times when it comes to leading these boys.
