Why did Ralph remain civilized while Jack turned to savagery?

I have to write a one page journal explaining how Ralph stayed civilized while Jacked turned to savagery but I am not good with words so I need help explaining.

Ralph thrived in a world of organization and rules. He also had Piggy's support. Jack, however, embraced the absence of adults and the ability to do exactly what he pleased. Ralph was focused on the good of the group..... Jack was focused on himself.
