As I mentioned before, Piggy's glasses are part of his identity rather than having meaning of its own. The round thick specks are automatically associated with intelligence (at that age especially) as if Piggy spent his life reading books. So when glasses are mentioned, we get a sense that they imply knowledge ant practical thought,
