What message do the author wants to convey?

There are so many themes that still relate today. The darkness of humanity still resonates today. We are still killing, humiliating, and subjugating each other. This can be seen in school playgrounds to world affairs. Much like in the novel, humanity seems to gravitate towards its dark side.
