What do Ralph Rodger and Jack find at the top of the hill do they realise what it is do you think this story would be better if the reader didn't know what it is

The boys find the dead parachute man caught on a tree at the top of this hill. The boys don't get close enough to examine it so they interpret as the Beast. I think it would have been better had they seen it. It might have lessened their frenzy and paranoia of a beast being on the island.
