Violence represents the breakdown of society in Lord of the Flies. In the beginning there is some type of order. As Jack's struggle for power intensifies as well as the dark side of humanity manifests, violence becomes the dominant force on the island. Violence becomes a product of a very Darwinian ethos that most the boys gravitate towards.
