How is darkness a part of Ralph?

Can you please show me two examples (quotes from the book) which prove that. Thank you!

Ralph resists darkness but, at times, finds himself pulled towards it. At one point he feels the rush of the hunt when he takes part in it. He also has to resist laughing at Piggy with the other boys.
