Ralph admonishes Jack and his hunters for letting the fire go out. Ralph is so angry at the idea that  they could have been rescued that he looks for the worst word he can think of, "They let the bloody fire go out". Jack, however, is overjoyed by the kill and ignores Ralph. Piggy begins to cry at their lost opportunity, and he also blames Jack. The two argue, and finally Jack punches Piggy
