How do these guards treat ralph?what dors it say about them and thier loyalty?

Sam and Eric are guarding the opening. They say they have no choice but to join Jack's tribe. They have to do what he says or Roger will terrorize them. I don't think they are disloyal to Ralph, they actually want him to go. The boys are just scared.
