Why doesn't Jack really care about being rescued?

Jack lives for Chaos. He also has a kind of power on the island that he would never have at home.

Most boys find the violence enjoyable while some like Simon, Ralph, Piggy have other prioraties.

I think the boys believe in the fear. This fear manifests itself in the Beast. Only Simon sees the beast for what it really is but the boys can't comprehend this.
