in lord jim, how does the land a the sea differ to Jim?

he felt one way on land and another way on sea. i want to know how he completely felt.

Jim did okay on land. I don't think he was repulsed by it. He, however, dreamed of the sea, the secrets and adventures she held. Jim decided to make the sea his career. He enrolled on a training ship for officers of the merchant marine. There we find many of the major themes of the story.
