Like water for chocolate is a Mexican expression for anger. Tita's anger boils over at Pedro: Tita was literally "like water for chocolate"—she was on the verge of boiling over at Pedro's continual impositions.

The term also means passion reflected in Tita's physical passion for Pedro. Hot chocolate boiling over.....
