How did the Tsimtsum (boat) sink?
did it get hit by something or what really happened to the boat?

An unexplained event causes the Tsimtsum to sink, and Pi is the only human to make it onto the lifeboat and survive.

The crew probably was drunk then they did something to mess up th controls,or they just weren't good sailors most, but likely the first answer.

Pi had left the water tight door open when he went for his late night walk around deck, and the wave swamped the lower compartments
