This satement has to do with the mind's ability to detach under stress or attack. A person can do things they'd never thought possible if faced with a case of survival or the need to protect someone or something they love. If this need to survive continues, the survivor becomes hardened. If it helps, think of a soldier in the midst of a violent war.

at first something new maybe hard to do but if u did it once you can easily repeat doing it.
