Life After Life Characters

Life After Life Character List

Ursula

Ursula is the main character of the novel. She is the one who relives her life over and over again, whilst with each chance she gets getting closer to her purpose and progressing in her life. She is often described by her close acquaintances as strange, not like the others, which is in part due to part of her previous lives subconsciously affecting her next ones.

Sylvie

Sylvie is Ursula's mother and a traditional Englishwoman, meaning that she is very conservative in her views on what a woman's purpose entails. She is judgmental and believes that a woman should only strive for being a wife and a mother. Her beliefs are hypocritical because she often indirectly reveals her unhappiness with her life.

Hugh

Hugh is Ursula's father. He is a traditional father figure in the household, but more open-minded and supporting of his children than his wife. He is shown to act like a true parent should when it comes to his children, ignoring tradition or what is considered shameful.

Izzie

Izzie is Ursula's controversial aunt, who lives ahead of her time, who is living for a life of comfort and leisure. Despite being shunned by Sylvie she seems to come closer to being a mother-figure to Ursula than her. Whenever Ursula needs help, comfort and support she runs to Izzie.

Teddy

Teddy is Ursula's younger brother who is at the heart of the family. He is Sylvie's favorite, and his sisters are also extremely fond and protective of him. He is gentle and protective of his family as well.

Maurice

Maurice is Ursula's older brother who is the exact opposite of Teddy. He is selfish and cruel, without any regards to his family or anyone's emotions.

Pamela

Pamela is Ursula's older sister. She is clever, kind, and open-minded. She is also more of a mother to Ursula than Sylvie is.
