The first time around, I admit that Louise's reactions shocked me. It was difficult to imagine a woman who'd just learned that her husband had been killed in an accident was feeling joyful. Over time, I've come to see that she wasn't happy about her husband's death, but rather, the thought of her own, less constrictive environment.
