Grant
Grant is a paleontologist who has been invited to Isla Nublar by Hammond in order to explore what Hammond has created. He becomes the protagonist of the film that must lead everyone to safety from the dinosaurs in order to stay alive.
John Hammond
Hammond is an industrialist who founded a bioengineering company, InGen which created dinosaurs from the blood of fossilized mosquitos. He then created a theme park on an island off of Costa Rica which he plans to open to the public.
Sattler
Dr. Ellie Sattler is a paleobotanist who works with Grant and the pair are also in love. She comes with Grant to Isla Nublar in order to see what Hammond and his bioengineering company have created and becomes tangled in the madness that ensues as the dinosaurs begin to take over the island.
Malcolm
Malcolm is a mathematician and chaos theorist who is invited to the island by Hammond along with Grant and Sattler. His mind works in different ways than the others on Isla Nublar and he sees the horror that will ensue before it ever happens. He becomes an ally in the journey to escape the island alive.
Tim
Tim is one of Hammond's grandchildren who he's brought to the island to explore and enjoy the theme park with Grant and Sattler. Eventually Grant and Sattler must protect Tim from the dinosaurs. Tim is brave for his age.
Lex
Lex is Tim's older sister and granddaughter to Hammond. She comes to Isla Nublar to enjoy the theme park with her brother but finds herself in the midst of the madness that occurs as the dinosaurs begin to take over the island, and finds herself rising to the occasion in order to protect her brother and keep herself and him alive.
