Bad  weather pretty much always signals that something bad is going. Shakespeare is all over bad weather. Lightening and thunder means wiches, something bad is about to happen, and God is not happy. On the night of the murder plot, you guessed it, the weather is all stormy and ominous. This directly affects the brooding almost fatalistic mood of the play.
