The red room represents Jane's mental and emotional struggles to find freedom, happiness, and a sense of belonging. The room becomes Jane's place of exile until she is emancipated into a new future. The red-room is dark like blood. She hears strange sounds and believes the ghost of the late Mr. Reed haunts the space.
