James and the Giant Peach

What sort of people do you think Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker are? Look at the song in chapter 2 and tell me how it develops our understanding of the characters of Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker?

James' aunts are mean, abusive, and selfish. His two aunts watch him while he chops wood in the heat, each of them bragging loudly about her own beauty, complimenting her own eyes, hair, clothing, and other bodily features through rhyme. This rhyme (song) alludes to their self-centeredness.
