James and Giant Peach, Chapter 10

James initially believes that he is crawling into nothing more than a hole. The further he gets, however, he realizes that he is actually in a tunnel with soggy floors and a sweet aroma. James crawls uphill and seems to be approaching the center of the fruit until he hits his head on a hard surface.
