Karana has a unique sense of responsibility. She takes care of everyone, regardless of her own young age. She particularly looks out for Ramo..... she gathers food, she takes the time to cross barriers with others that could not otherwise be breached, and in return, she is accepted by the Europeans who otherwise would have considered her savage.
