Invisible child: Poverty, survival and Hope in an American city

Before finding their way to Auburn Family Residence, a city-run shelter, Dasani's family was renting a house on Staten Island with the help of a rent subsidy program called Advantage. Within two years of moving to Staten Island, they were homeless. What happened?

Over time, the house became infested by bed bugs, and the family's rent subsidy expired. Shortly after, Mayor Bloomberg ended the Advantage plan, which once again created homelessness.
